Matic Network Chain Runner hackathon bounties

We’re proudly supporting blockchain innovation at the Chain Runner virtual hackathon, part of the ETHIndia Online hackathon series, organized by our long-standing hackathon partners Devfolio.

The month-long virtual hackathon is taking place entirely online from May 22 – June 21 and aims to bring together developers from across the globe to help build our decentralized future.

The Matic team is supporting the event as judges, and we are providing a range of lucrative bounties to encourage the hackers to build innovative solutions on Matic Network.

Judging Criteria

  1. The importance of Matic Network’s infrastructure in the application/originality of the idea
  2. User experience: intuitive, easy to use and interact with
  3. Technical complexity: going above and beyond the specification. Code quality, bug free, documentation quality
  4. Polish: how refined the project is

Note: The bounty payout amount for each winning submission is determined by the quality of the application.

Background Info & Useful Resources

Before we dive into the bounties on offer, first take some time to become acquainted with our range of resources which will help you to gain a better idea of Matic Network and how to build on our infrastructure.

The page below will act as your guide understanding the Matic ecosystem. You’ll find links to some useful resources and websites to get you started with building on Matic in particular and blockchain in general.

Matic Network Bounty Track Details

We like to think outside the box when it comes to our bounty tracks, and have come up with some awesome ideas to motivate the Chain Runner hackers to try their hand at building on Matic.

1. Open Bounty (each hack up to $500)

Objective: Let your imagination run wild while you build a DApp that makes use of Matic Network for scalability, improved UX, DeFi, or more!

2. Dashboard for GSN Contracts on Matic Network (each hack up to $500)

Objective: Create a simple dashboard application that provides the following functionalities:

  • Upload their GSN enabled smart contract (deployed on Matic’s Testnetv3)
  • Fund it with ETH (on Matic’s Testnetv3)
  • View all active Relayers
  • View each Relayer’s status
  • Enable multiple developers to fund a single contract for their respective users through the interface – e.g. multiple DApps might want to pay on behalf of their users for the common single DAI token transfers on Matic

3. Explorer for Deposits and Withdrawals from Matic (each hack up to $500)

Objective: Create an explorer-like UI that gives real time updates of:

  • Successful deposits
  • Successful state-syncs
  • Status of all 3 stages of withdrawals for each token

Can be a single/multi page application.

4. Micropayments (each hack up to $200)

Objective: Build an application that employs repeated micropayments on Matic Network. Bonus points for using a metamask plugin to enable seamless network switch.

Example: A proof of concept for tipping content producers on social media platforms. Final submission may include a pluggable widget (or a browser extension/add-on) that integrates with a social media website and processes transactions incentivising content creators from content consumers.

5. Open Bounty – Meta Transactions (each hack up to $500)

Objective: Build a DApp employing meta transactions using Biconomy or GSN.

6. Build a Fast Exit Plasma Solution (each hack up to $500)

Background: Most Plasma implementations have a minimum proposed challenge period of 7 days, which means that the users initiating the Plasma withdrawals will have to wait for a week to have access to their funds.

1. A proof of concept enabling Faster Exits from Plasma chain (Matic chain) by generating an Exit Token in the form of an NFT which is representative of the assets that are locked up in the Plasma contract for the duration of the challenge period.

2. Further, extend your idea along any of these lines:

  • The user has an option to obtain a loan using this NFT as collateral
  • Sells the NFT in a marketplace
  • Or something else, be creative!
